TRIUMFBUEN/ARCH OF TRIUMPH
Hammerfest, Norway, 2015
This mixture of artistic intervention, social experiment and norsk dugnad (eng.: voluntary community work) explores social coherence versus fragmentation, through challenging all the inhabitants of the monumental Horseshoe Block of Flats to form a living neon message billboard together, using the building’s facade as a human-powered LED strip.
Each apartments becomes a pixel in the strip by turning on and off the lights of their apartments according to a prepared order of messages created from proposals submitted by themselves.
